Real Estate News: The economic news is still not good . . .but for buyers, rates will never be better. Trying to time the bottom of a market is never a good idea. Keep in mind a 10% decrease in the price of a home can be erased by a 1% increase in the interest rate!
In addition to fewer buyers in the marketplace, we are seeing another trend in the Sandhills -- a significant increase of homes coming on the market from 2008 until now. Together, fewer buyers and more sellers has led to over 26 months of inventory! Take a look at the attached chart "New Listings by Year."
With that being said, there is still good news to report. The six month average for home prices has been pretty steady (especially during the past three months). As you can see from the enclosed "4 Steps to Housing Recovery," home prices need to stabilize before any economic recovery can begin.
